  Luis Lopez :: Bandleader & Vocals
Panama City, Panama

Luis is a versatile and energetic performer. Singing in Spanish, English or Portuguese, he adapts to many styles and rhythms. He has worked with various groups in the Louisville area, including Kalor and Enclave and has shared the stage with many other regional artists.
Born in Porto Alegre, Brasil, his family returns to their native Panama when he was 2 years old. There, he spends most of his life, growing up to a mix of different musical influences, the strongest of which was Salsa, his true passion.
After relocating to Louisville in January of 2000, he starts perfoming in small clubs, under the guidance of Venezuelan singer Juan Jose Quiros.Following some years of singing with different bands in clubs and festivals, he moves on to form his own band, "Cosa Seria" with other local talent.
In 2007, Luis partners with Rafael Lopez-Prieto, a talented performer, arranger and composer from Cuba, to give the band a musical director and inject it with original compositions and its own distinct sound.

Rafael Lopez Prieto :: Director & Piano

Rafael is a guitarist, keyboardist, arranger, and composer. He started his formal musical education with classical guitar at a very young age. "Rafa" attended different music institutions throughout his life, such as the Raul Gomez Garcia Vocational School of Arts (Holguin), the Jose Maria Ochoa Professional School of Music (Holguin), and The Higher Institute of Arts of Havana at Camaguey. After graduating, he imparted classical guitar for three years at the Raul Gomez Garcia Vocational School of Arts in the city of Holguin. 
Rafael has been an active performer for about ten years. During this time, he has been part of innumerable projects, of both classical and popular music; S.O.S, Abstracto, Duo Puertas, Duo Montuno and Timba Son, to name a few.   Yoan Paumier :: Trumpet
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

Yoan starts playing the trumpet at age 10, attending the local school of arts in his native Guantanamo Bay. He moves on to study classical and popular Cuban music at the Jose Maria Ochoa Conservatory at Holguin.
After graduating, Yoan is drafted into the Cuban military, where he serves for five years.
Upon his return, he starts performing with different popular bands in Guantanamo, like Xiomara Mendez y su Son Star and Sabor y Ritmo.
His story brings him to Louisville, where he performs with local bands TimbaSon and now Cosa Seria. Yoan's authentic and powerful sound is an essential ingredient in the band's unique mix.
Rob Nickerson :: Tenor/Alto Saxophone
Indianapolis, IN USA

A versatile musician, Robert Nickerson is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger. He has shared the stage with noted musicians, such as: Terrell Stafford, Terry Lynn Carrington, John Fedchock, Jerry Coker, Phil Woods, Curtis Fuller, Denis Diblasio, Kenny Werner, Joe La Barbara, Jimmy Heath, and Lew Soloff. In 1997 he was awarded the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation Jazz Scholarship and was the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Award in 1999.
Mr. Nickerson currently works as a freelance musician in the Louisville, KY area. He has a variety of diverse groups that perform at many different venues throughout the Tri-State area and have made television and radio appearances. Mr. Nickerson is a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators, Music Educators National Conference, American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity of America.
